Finally, I welcome you to the new website! Take a look around. My plan is for this to be a continual work in progress. My blog updates will now appear here (no longer on blogspot) so please bookmark here. It’s been 6 months from the vision to the execution. I learned A LOT about the working of the internet, web services and design. Stuff I had no idea about. It’s fair to say I experienced what a newcomer to exercise must feel: overwhelmed and having serious doubts I could even finish what I started.
There were bumps in the road, for sure. Having no experience with web design services and a limited budget, I went with a small design firm I found through a website called resourcenation.com. Resourcenation is place for independent entrepreneurs to go and find specialized services for whatever their needs might be. I filled out a request form, got a few bids, and went with this one firm who paid a lot of attention, and was priced well below what I found locally in LA.
Well, as the cliche goes: you get what you pay for. These guys were incompetent from the start, and I had no idea where to go and what to do. Three months went by and we were going around in circles with no end in sight. Finally, I called the guy whose company was hosting my website before. Paul was incredibly generous and gracious in helping me extricate me from the morass I’d found myself in. Paul figured out this company was farming out the design work to India. No wonder they couldn’t comprehend simple design requests! I couldn’t have done it myself, I was in over my head, in terms of technological knowledge I didn’t have. The moral of the story is: don’t just go with lowest priced people you find to do a job for you, AND, there ARE good people in the world who are willing to help you out if you show up and ask.
Anyway, want to keep this post short and sweet, as I am testing the new system and just want to welcome you all. Take a look around. Post comments. My vision is for this site to be a place to come to for fitness advice and give and take and interchange of ideas. Let me know what you think!
